Perforce commons features
Collaborate. Version. Manage.
With Commons, your teams always have right versions of the files you collaborate on—documents, presentations, images, anything. You’ll never lose any work. Add a file to Commons and it will be saved securely in the right folder or made the updated version of an existing file. The File Valet guides you to the right outcome every time.
File Valet
Work on a file in your preferred desktop application and then just drag it into Commons. File Valet guides you through the file management process to the right outcome. It knows more about your files than you do. It knows if your file has been edited, moved, deleted, or altered in any way; who did it; which version; and when the change was made.
Email Sharing and Workflow
Sharing work is simple. Just email a link to a colleague for review. Reduce duplicated storage and ensure the latest version is being used. Add comments to any file versions to let others know what you changed or to provide feedback.
Version History
Commons preserves your work. So if someone uploads a newer version of the document before you've had a chance to submit your changes, your edits aren't lost. You can view the changes anyone has made before merging the changes or creating a new version.
Preview Files without Downloading
An embedded rich preview for the most commonly used file types (Word documents, PowerPoint, PDF, JPG, etc.) is included in Commons. Reviews and comments can be added in Commons without having to create a copy of the file on your local machine.
Compare Files at a Glance
A built-in document-compare tool allows you to quickly understand what's been changed between any two versions of a file.
Automated Merge for Word and PowerPoint
Compare and combine your Microsoft Word and PowerPoint docs with changes from other team members. The patent-pending three-way merge service in Commons allows you to view, accept, and reject changes.
Favorites for Files and Folders
Follow the files and folders you use the most to make them even easier to access. You'll be notified of any changes.
Immediate Notifications
Commons notifies you when a file you're following has been changed and when you're mentioned in a comment.
